The first Belt and Road Overseas Chinese Cooperation and Development Conference opened in Chongqing on the morning of July 17. Yuan Jiajun, Secretary of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the CPC, and Su Hui, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Chairman of the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League, attended the opening ceremony. Hu Henghua, Deputy Secretary of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the CPC and Mayor of Chongqing, Lian Xiaomin, Vice Chairman of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Pubu Dunzhu, Member of the Standing Committee of the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the CPC and Minister of the United Front Work Department, and Guo Kongfeng, Chairman and CEO of Wilmar International Group (Singapore), delivered speeches. Wang Jiong, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chongqing Municipal People's Congress, and Cheng Lihua, Chairman of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, also attended.

The conference, themed "Overseas Chinese Gathering on the New Silk Road, Joining Hands for the Future," was guided by the eight actions for high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and included "stabilizing foreign investment" and "stabilizing foreign trade" as key components. More than 500 representatives of overseas Chinese from over 110 countries and regions were invited to attend. Xu Wenqian, Chairman of Aosheng Technology, was among those invited to participate.

The meeting pointed out that in 2013, General Secretary Xi Jinping, taking into account the overall strategic situation of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and the unprecedented changes in the world, and responding to the demands of the times for the reform of the global governance system, proposed the grand initiative of jointly building the "Belt and Road." Over the past decade, the "Belt and Road" initiative has become the world's largest, most extensive, and most influential international economic cooperation platform. In this process, the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese has fully leveraged its role in uniting, connecting, and serving, building bridges of cooperation between China and participating countries around the promotion of higher-level opening-up and the smooth flow of domestic and international dual circulation. It is hoped that overseas Chinese will seize this historical opportunity, focus on advancing Chinese-style modernization, and work together to promote the high-quality and in-depth development of the "Belt and Road" initiative, making new and greater contributions to the reunification of the motherland, the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, and the promotion of world peace, tranquility, and common development.

As a member of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, vice president of the Jiangsu Provincial Federation of Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs, vice president of the Jiangsu Provincial Overseas Friendship Association, and vice chairman of the Wujiang District Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Chairman Xu Wenqian has always taken "overseas Chinese hearts are with the Party and overseas Chinese strength serve the country" as his mission. He has given full play to the resource advantages of the overseas Chinese community and made important contributions to promoting international cooperation under the "Belt and Road" initiative, assisting in regional coordinated development, and promoting cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries. He is committed to becoming a model of overseas Chinese entrepreneurs serving national strategies in the new era.

In recent years, Chairman Xu Wenqian has led delegations to countries along the Belt and Road Initiative, such as Hungary and Ethiopia, to conduct inspections and exchanges. He has organized overseas Chinese business delegations to connect with local governments, chambers of commerce, and enterprises, deepen economic and trade exchanges, build high-quality cooperation platforms, and explore new paths for international trade cooperation.

Today, the Belt and Road Initiative has moved from a Chinese initiative to international practice, from a concept to action, and from broad strokes to detailed plans, entering a new stage of high-quality development. Overseas Chinese businesspeople are an important force in my country's opening up and modernization, and significant participants and contributors to the Belt and Road Initiative.
